In World War 1, new diseases broke out because of all the different countries fighting over each other and the poor sanitation. A popular disease is called Trench Foot, which has not treatment and is an infection caused by clod and wet surroundings. There is no treatment and if body tissue was being decomposed, the foot would have to be amputated. The Influenza Pandemic was a time period between 1918-1919 when a horrible flu broke out during the war that almost assured 100% death. Lastly, rat infestations were another cause of death. Although most did not carry disease, they would feed on human remains and were feared by men because they would grow to be the size of cats.
